Be a leader in your industry by investing in innovative, local emissions reduction

Carbon Harvest offers regional businesses and organizations a unique opportunity to go beyond conventional carbon offsets.

You can help sponsor the implementation of regenerative land management practices on local farms and working lands that improve the climate resilience of our entire region.

During our Phase 1 funding cycle, Carbon Harvest will select landowners and land managers to work with to design carbon-sequestering agroforestry projects right here in Southern Appalachia.

Once designed for maximum benefit, these projects will be implemented via funding from both community members and business leaders like you, who are managing companies mindfully.

By signing on as an investor you become part of a new story of the climate-conscious economy in Southern Appalachia.

Flexible Local Investment.

As a business funder, you can choose to participate in advance of project selection or to contribute to specific agroforestry project goals once the Phase 1 design process is complete.

We will work with you to identify the opportunity that best fits your company’s goals. If you don’t yet have company offset goals, we can help you identify them!

We will be working to develop a participatory way to monitor your investment in healthy working lands to verify its carbon impact and the impact of co-benefits throughout the project phase.

The story of your contribution to regional climate resilience will be yours to tell, too. We will work with your marketing team to report project outcomes and maintain project integrity collectively.

You and your customers will see, feel, and taste your investment in a clean future.

The Unique Value of Regional Investment

Place-Based Impact.

As a climate-conscious business owner, you understand the importance of investing in your supply chain, especially if it means the quality of products, the sustainability of the suppliers you depend on, and the satisfaction of your customer will all strengthen through a single investment.

You may also know that national and global offset options can be tricky to trace, and variable in their impact.

The value of Carbon Harvest’s Beta Project 1 is that you can join in on the ground floor development of a massively innovative carbon management platform. Not only will projects be located in your business region, but the nature of the funding, implementation, and monitoring is multi-stakeholder, giving you layered accountability throughout the life of your investment.

Your investment in specific, regional projects means that you are contributing to the understanding of real impact conservation practices on Southern Appalachian lands. Read more about the value of a regional focus.

This is leading-edge work in the effort toward climate drawdown. Business leaders like you will be indispensable partners in building a better future for Southern Appalachia.

FAQ

How many projects will be selected for Phase 1 funding?

Project number and scale for Phase 1 will depend on many factors. We will select 1 or more projects based on design budget, funder and landowner goals, and overall impact potential for the specific project phase. We will be in communication with investors as we determine these details.

When will we know the Phase 1 Project Selections?

The application period (time that land managers and landowners can apply through the RFP) is June 1- August 1. We hope to conduct interviews with applicants and select projects by early to mid-autumn, 2022. Major funders from the business sector will be notified early and receive communication throughout the selection phase.

After selections, how long will the process take?

Once selected, the design process takes roughly 40 hours. Once design is complete, fundraising can be completed, as many specific costs will be determined by the design plan. This is a beta phase, so we don’t have historical information on fundraising timelines, and we expect they will vary from project to project depending on budget and scope. We will be able to identify a funding timeline more easily once the design plan is finalized, and early funding interest has been secured. Obviously, the more community and business donations we get up front, the faster the process!

Will I have input on project design, implementation, and monitoring?

Investors do not have input on project specifics post-selection, however, you will be well-informed about design, implementation, and monitoring benchmarks unless you opt-out from communications.

I still have questions. How can I get more information?

For business leaders, we recommend an investment consultation so we can fully address your questions. Send us a message and we will reach out to you.
